A survivor of the June 12 terrorist attack at Pulse nightclub in Orlando was found dead Sunday at a home in Tampa, a local news station reported Monday.

Friends of Pulse survivor Chris Brodman told WKMG, a local CBS News affiliate, that Mr. Brodman died early Sunday morning while attending a birthday party.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said it responded to a home after receiving reports of a man unconscious at about 1:50 a.m. Sunday. The sheriff’s office didn’t release his name to WKMG, citing notification of his family. An investigation is reportedly ongoing.

“It was supposed to be a fun night,” Mr. Brodman’s friend and fellow Pulse survivor Orlando Torres told the station.

He said he heard of Mr. Brodman’s death after Mr. Brodman’s boyfriend posted about it on Facebook.

“It’s unfortunate this had to happen to someone that is just so sweet and nice and didn’t deserve it, like anybody else,” Mr. Torres said.

WKMG had interviewed Mr. Brodman on June 21, just nine days after the terrorist attack that left 49 people dead. Mr. Brodman was in the process of getting a Pulse tribute tattoo during his interview.

“Last call. We went out to the patio to have a cigarette, and we were out there when the shots started to be fired,” he told the station at the time. “I said, ’Run. Just run, run, run.’ And we all just ran out the bar.”

Mr. Brodman’s boyfriend has posted on social media that he is collecting money to cover funeral expenses.

“I still can’t believe my baby is gone,” he wrote on Facebook, the New York Daily News reported. “I can’t sleep I can’t breathe i don’t know how I’m going to go on without him.”
