FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - High-speed internet is coming to seven Alaska villages next year.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports (https://bit.ly/2dDBWUF) phone, wireless and cable provider GCI announced new towers are close to being finished as part of a project that currently serves 40,000 residents.

The company expects to offer high-speed internet in the Buckland, Selawik, Noorvik, St. Michael, Golovin, Elim and Koyuk villages by 2017.
