SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Salt Lake City fire crew returning from a call is credited with rescuing a family of five from a burning home.

Salt Lake City fire spokesman Davin Halvorsen says a fire engine was on its way back to the station around 5 a.m. Sunday when a fire captain smelled smoke.

The crew searched the area and found a house on fire.

Halvorsen says firefighters woke up the residents and evacuated them.

They were able to extinguish the blaze.

There were no injuries reported.

But the family is now displaced.

Halvorsen says they are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
