LEEDS, Maine (AP) - Cheesemongers are hoping to show the public that the growth of cheese making in Maine could be as sharp as the state’s cheddar.

Sunday is Open Creamery Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cheese makers around Maine will welcome residents to visit creameries, meet the animals, and learn about how cheese is made.

The number of cheese makers in Maine doubled from 2010 to 2015, from 40 to 80. Cheese makers will be open in Appleton, Whitefield, Pittsfield and elsewhere.
