TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Forest officials in southern Arizona are closing two trails because of the possibility of bear encounters.

The Coronado National Forest temporarily shut down access to the Old Baldy Trail and Super Trail in the Santa Rita Mountains on Saturday.

Hikers in Madera Canyon should also be aware that a bear has been spotted several times in recent days.

In one instance, the bear approached hikers.

Wildlife experts say anyone who comes across a bear should not run but rather back away slowly.

Any bear sightings should be reported to the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
