BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP) - A celebration is planned to mark the 50th anniversary of Cambridge Junction Historic State Park in southern Michigan.

The Brooklyn-area park includes the Walker Tavern Historic Site. The public is invited to an event Sunday where a new Michigan Historical Marker sponsored by the Friends of Walker Tavern is scheduled to be dedicated.

The 1830s tavern received its first Michigan Historical Marker in 1959, before it became part of a state park. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says the marker was removed after state historians found evidence that contradicted some of the marker’s information.

An exhibit marking the park’s anniversary also will be on display. Walker Tavern among the museums administered by the Michigan History Center, an agency within the DNR.
