LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - The stocking of rainbow trout at Omaha’s Benson Park Pond has been moved up to accommodate the Omaha Police Department’s Cops and Bobbers family fishing event.

Initially, the 1,050 10-inch trout were scheduled to be stocked Oct. 25 by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. But that has been moved up to Wednesday, ahead of the Oct. 16 Cops and Bobbers event.

The event brings law enforcement and children ages 8 to 15 together in a fun environment. Bait, tackle, fishing poles and a hot dog lunch will be provided. In 2014, more than 200 kids took part.

Monday is the deadline to register for the fishing event.
