PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - A local artist and sculptor will soon be doing some restoration work on the Vietnam War Memorial in Paducah.

The Paducah Sun reports (https://bit.ly/2dkrcVw) that Linda L. Ogden will next week begin the restoration process on the 32-year-old monument at Dolly McNutt Memorial Plaza.

It’s composed of two pieces including a large, grey granite slab that stands about 7 feet tall and a black base, bearing the names of 46 men who fought and died in the war.

Due to the chipped and worn condition of the paint on the base, Ogden will be applying a fresh coat.

McCraken County Commission Jerry Beyer says the paint, donated by Keepsake Monuments owner Mitchell Lee, was specifically designed for moments and memorials to withstand the wear of time and weather.
