FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - A 26-year-old Fort Worth woman has been arrested and charged with injury to a child by omission for the death three years ago of her newborn found hidden under a bathroom sink.

Police spokesman Sgt. Marc Povero tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (https://bit.ly/2dAWkCG ) that Shaquita Galloway’s child died from what’s believed to be a lack of necessary medical care.

Galloway in 2013 went to a Fort Worth hospital for treatment of bleeding and care providers there determined she’d recently given birth to a full-term baby. They called police who found the child’s body.

She was in jail Thursday on $5,000 bond. Court records didn’t indicate she had an attorney.

Her case in 2013 initially was assigned to a detective who was fired in July for mishandling child abuse cases.
