BANGOR, Maine (AP) - Bangor Savings Bank is notifying customers they should ignore a text message saying their bank cards have been compromised and directing them to call a number to provide their account information.

The Portland Press Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2dZd8Wk ) the bank says the text message is a scam.

The bank says in a post on its website that it will never ask for account information through phone, text message or email. Officials urge customers who gave out personal information to contact their local branch.

The bank’s legitimate phone system was experiencing problems on Thursday.
