LIGONIER, Pa. (AP) - A 13-year-old boy is being charged in juvenile court with setting fire to the snack bar area of a popular western Pennsylvania swimming resort.
The fire at the Ligonier Beach Restaurant, Lounge and Swimming Pool was reported shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday and confined to a snack bar and bathhouse area.
Westmoreland County authorities aren’t identifying the suspect because of his age, but say the boy rode his bicycle to the business before setting the fire.
They say he also first stole cash from a register and opened the beer taps in the lounge before setting the blaze. Police say about $700 worth of beer was wasted.
The business is located along U.S. Route 30, about 45 miles east of Pittsburgh. It opened in 1925.
