WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - A suburban New York driver has pleaded guilty in connection with a fatal wrong-way crash.
Acting Westchester County District Attorney James A. McCarty said Thursday that Zachary Tokson (TOHK’-suhn) of Armonk has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and aggravated vehicular homicide.
The driver went the wrong way out of a rest stop in December after pulling over to take a nap.
Authorities said he had been at a bar hours earlier. A search of his vehicle revealed a closed empty whiskey bottle and mixed alcohol in a closed soda bottle.
The head-on crash on Interstate 684 in Bedford claimed the life of Elena Lopez of Mount Kisco.
The wreck also injured Tokson’s passenger. She suffered broken ribs, a dislocated femur and damage to her liver and spleen.
