LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police are asking the public for help finding a cat killer.

Police say someone intentionally hanged a full grown cat from a fence post in a downtown Las Vegas neighborhood on Sept. 14.

Police have not been able to identify the cat and do not know if it was a pet or a feral cat from the area. The Las Vegas police’s animal cruelty task force is investigating.

The task force was created a year ago and investigates 15 to 20 cases a month.

Police say people who harm animals often graduate to more violent crimes against humans.
