WINONA, Minn. (AP) - A La Crosse, Wisconsin, man has pleaded guilty to shooting and killing a Winona man.
Twenty-four-year-old Lonnie Hudson pleaded guilty in Winona County District Court on Thursday to second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree assault for killing Adam Fort in October 2015. Under his plea deal, first-degree murder and other charges were dropped.
The Winona Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/2dwmZDB ) that Hudson admitted in court Thursday that he shot Fort. Authorities say Hudson and others went to Fort’s Winona apartment, supposedly to buy marijuana, but it turned into a robbery. Hudson fired a single shot that hit a major artery.
The plea deal calls for a sentence of 30 years. He won’t be eligible for parole until he serves 20 years.
Six other defendants were also charged in the case.
