SCHOOLCRAFT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A 49-year-old man has died after falling from a tree-trimming bucket truck in southwestern Michigan.

The Kalamazoo County sheriff’s office says Wednesday that Ronald Lee Phillips tumbled 50 feet to the ground Monday outside a home in Schoolcraft Township, south of Grand Rapids.

The sheriff’s office says it appears that part of a tree that was being removed fell in an unexpected way, causing Phillips to fall.

Phillips, of Three Rivers, was not wearing a safety harness.
