OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) - A six-month, $1.2 million project is getting under way to make the Gulf Coast city of Ocean Springs more walkable.
The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2d0txHq ) that the project will include construction of new sidewalks, improvements to existing ones and installation of a prefabricated walkable bridge over a local bayou.
City officials celebrated the groundbreaking Tuesday morning with state and county officials.
The project includes areas that local officials say badly need sidewalks for parents walking their children to school, as well as joggers and bikers.
