MOOSE, Wyo. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a grizzly bear was struck and killed by a vehicle in Grand Teton National Park.
The National Park Service said Monday that a motorist reported finding the carcass of a 260-pound male grizzly bear on U.S. Highway 89 Sunday morning. An unattended damaged vehicle was parked about a mile north on the highway.
Rangers later contacted the driver but issued no citations.
The park service says the bear was believed to be about 2 to 4 years old. Rangers urged drivers not to speed and to be alert when driving through the park during animal migration periods.
