CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that damaged airplanes and a storage building at Spirit of St. Louis Airport.
The fire broke out about 1 a.m. Monday at the airport in Chesterfield. Officials suspect the cause was accidental.
Two planes and a storage area were badly burned, and five other planes, all of them private aircraft in small individual hangars, were damaged by smoke.
No one was hurt.
Roger Herin of the Monarch Fire Protection District says firefighters were alerted by someone passing by who saw smoke and called 911.
