LYNN, Mass. (AP) - Authorities say Lynn police officers serving a search warrant at a condominium complex shot and killed a man who pointed a gun at them.
A spokeswoman for the Essex District Attorney’s office says officers went to the condo just after 9 a.m. Monday after identifying the man as a suspect in a Sept. 26 armed robbery at a pub.
The man told officers he was not coming out after they knocked on his door. Police say they made a forced entry and saw the man pointing a gun at the door. Police say the officers retreated, but the man followed them into the hallway still pointing the gun. Three officers opened fire.
The 57-year-old man died at the scene.
No names were released.
The shooting is under investigation.
