COLCHESTER, Vt. (AP) - Crews from Vermont’s largest electric utility are making progress restoring power to thousands of customers after heavy snow brought down trees on power lines around the state.
But Green Mountain Power says it could take until Saturday evening to restore power in some of the hardest-hit areas.
GMP says it has restored service to more than 27,300 residents. As of Friday afternoon, 3,000 customers remain without power.
A utility spokeswoman says the most severe damage is in the Springfield, Royalton, and Brattleboro areas. GMP says crews will be working around the clock to make repairs.
