DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - The driver of a semitrailer has been killed in a crash on Interstate 80 in eastern Iowa.

The Iowa State Patrol says the vehicle was traveling westbound in Scott County around 4 a.m. Friday when it lost control, left the road and eventually struck a tree.

The Quad-City Times reports (https://bit.ly/2feaRqV ) the driver, whose name has not been released, was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City before he was pronounced dead.



The crash, which is under investigation, affected traffic in the area for several hours.
