WASHINGTON (AP) - An armed security guard was robbed of his firearm while working at a library in Washington.
Metropolitan police tell local media the robbery happened at about 9:15 p.m. Thursday at the Dorothy I. Height-Benning Library. The library had closed at 9 p.m.
The Washington Post reports (https://wapo.st/2f01iqG) the security guard was walking to his vehicle behind the library when he was approached from behind by a man holding a dark metal object to his head. According to the offense report, the man said, “This is a gun.”
He then told the guard to get on the ground and stole some of the guard’s equipment, including his weapon, before fleeing.
The guard wasn’t hurt in the incident.
