WALDORF, Md. (AP) - The Charles County Sheriff’s Office says a 19-year-old man has been charged in the fatal shooting of another teen in the parking lot of a Waldorf movie theater.
The shooting happened Wednesday night in the parking lot of the movie theater at St. Charles Towne Center. Officials said in a statement that 18-year-old Reuel Hicks of Waldorf was walking behind the movie theater with friends when he stopped to talk with 19-year-old Deavan Jefferson.
Officials say Jefferson pulled out a gun, shot Hicks and fled. He was found nearby and detained.
Hicks was flown to a hospital in critical condition, but officials say he died early Thursday.
Officials say Jefferson is charged with first-degree murder and is being held at the Charles County Detention Center.
