CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Tim Scott is helping raise money to help people affected by Hurricane Matthew.

The South Carolina Republican is hosting a barbecue fundraiser on Thursday at Founders Hall at Charles Towne Landing.

Scott says donations raised at the event will go toward the Hurricane Matthew relief fund. Checks may be written, payable to the Lowcountry South Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross.
