LANSING, Mich. (AP) - A Saginaw doctor has pleaded guilty to felony charges that he filed fraudulent claims with the Medicaid program.
The Michigan attorney general’s office announced that 57-year-old Chidozie Ononuju was arraigned and pleaded guilty Thursday in East Lansing to three counts. Each charge is punishable by up to 4 years.
Ononuju was released on a personal recognizance bond of $10,000. He’ll be sentenced on Dec. 7.
As part of the plea agreement, he’ll pay over $400,000 to the Medicaid program and will no longer be able to write prescriptions.
It was immediately unclear if he has an attorney. A message left at Ononuju’s office was not immediately returned Thursday.
