JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania coroner says the former girlfriend of a man who died in 2009 has come forward to claim his cremated remains, which were left in an urn on her neighbor’s porch.

Cambria County Coroner Jeffrey Lees tells WJAC-TV (https://bit.ly/2eQTOYu ) the woman came forward after the station reported the misplaced ashes on Tuesday.

A Johnstown man found a gold-colored box contained the ashes on his porch Saturday along with a note saying, “Your better half remains.”

Lees says the woman lives two doors away from where the ashes were found. She told the coroner the ashes had been misplaced.

Lees plans to return the ashes to the woman next week.

It hasn’t been made clear who left the ashes on the porch.
