TOTOWA, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey sheriff’s officer working a construction detail has been struck by a vehicle and seriously injured.

Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik says the sheriff’s sergeant was working a detail in Totowa Wednesday night when he was hit.

Berdnik says a Woodland Park police lieutenant witnessed the accident and provided medical attention until an ambulance arrived.



The Record (https://bit.ly/2eSLtmJ ) reports the unidentified sergeant was taken to a hospital, where he’s listed in stable condition.

Berdnik says the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

No other information was immediately available.
