52 hunters succeeded in annual moose hunt

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Preliminary figures show that 52 hunters succeeded in hunting a moose during this year’s nine-day season in New Hampshire.

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department says that’s a 72 percent success rate, a bit higher than last year’s rate of 69 percent.

More than 8,000 people entered the moose hunt lottery for a chance to win a permit for the New Hampshire moose hunt. A total of 72 hunters took part, and nearly 85 percent of the permits went to New Hampshire residents. The overall odds of being drawn this year were 1 in 75 for state residents and 1 in 327 for nonresidents.
