CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A boater in distress off the coast of South Carolina has been brought to a hospital in Charleston by a Coast Guard helicopter.
The Coast Guard says a passenger aboard a 60-foot sailboat reported a medical emergency shortly after noon Monday about 20 miles off the coast.
A helicopter from Air Station Savannah responded and brought the 55-year-old man to shore and he was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina.
The man’s name and condition were not released.
The sailboat the man was on was being towed at the time.
