OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Oakland police say a speeding car has crashed into three patrol cruisers, killing a passenger.
It happened shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday as officers blocked off streets to investigate a shooting.
Police tell the Los Angeles Times (https://lat.ms/2eOS6oW ) that a red Chevrolet Impala sped down 35th Avenue and hit three cruisers and two parked cars.
One passenger, a 27-year-old Hayward man, was killed and three others were treated at hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.
The driver, a 27-year-old Oakland man, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Police say speed and alcohol played a role in the crash.
No officers were hurt.
