PHOENIX (AP) - Bond has been set at $50,000 for a Phoenix man suspected of causing a car crash that left one woman dead and another critically injured.
Phoenix police say 26-year-old Randall Nelson has been booked into jail on suspicion of negligent homicide, endangerment and aggravated assault.
He didn’t have a lawyer at his initial court appearance Monday.
Police say Nelson’s vehicle allegedly ran a red light at an intersection and struck another car about 1:15 a.m. Saturday. That car then hit a tractor-trailer.
They say a woman in the second car died at the scene. Police identified her as 34-year-old Trista Jaquez.
They say a 23-year-old woman in that car remains hospitalized in serious condition with life-threatening injuries.
Police say impairment and speed are being investigated as factors in the crash.
