PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say a pedestrian who was struck and killed was believed to be drunk.

Authorities say the incident took place around 9 p.m. Saturday in the area of 7th Street and the Loop 101.

A man was crossing an intersection outside of the crosswalk when he was hit.



Police say the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Lt. Paul Taylor says the man, in his 30s or 40s, showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol.

His name was not released pending family notification.
