SAN ANGELO, Texas (AP) - Officials say the bodies of a 61-year-old man and a 5-year-old boy have been recovered from a West Texas lake.
The San Angelo Standard-Times (https://bit.ly/2dz1yk6 ) reports that San Angelo police spokeswoman Officer Tracy Gonzalez says the man and boy found Friday night were related. Their names weren’t released.
Gonzalez says it appeared that the two might have been fishing off of the spillway and fallen into Lake Nasworthy. She noted that moss in some areas combined with water rushing over the dam can make the spillway dangerously slippery.
They were pronounced dead at the scene. Autopsies have been ordered, but Gonzalez says foul play is not suspected.
She says a family member had called police after becoming concerned about their absence.
