KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say an inmate in the Florida Keys has died after hanging himself.
Monroe County Sheriff’s officials say deputies were performing a routine check at Stock Island Detention Center on Sunday morning and found 25-year-old Christopher Cox hanging from the neck. They immediately performed CPR. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Cox was being held on federal firearms charges after his arrest Wednesday following a long standoff with deputies in Marathon.
