ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a Cottonport woman has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $6,000 from the Effie Post Office.
U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley, in a news release Friday, said 26-year-old Chelsa Dobison pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Dee D. Drell to one count of issuing fraudulent money orders.
Finley’s office says Dobison worked at the post office from January until her resignation in April and issued $6,631.55 in money orders to herself without prepaying for them. As a result, the post office a financial loss.
Dobison faces five years in prison, three years’ supervised release, restitution and a $250,000 fine. A sentencing date was set for Jan. 26.
