ATLANTA (AP) - A Georgia principal is among the recipients of a federal education award recognizing school leaders.

Judy Armstrong, principal of St. Thomas More Catholic School in Decatur, received the Terrel H. Bell Award for the school’s response to 440 students displaced by Hurricane Katrina. U.S. Secretary of Education John King says the award goes to “transformational leaders.”

The award is named for the second Secretary of Education.

The seven recipients will be honored at a ceremony in November.
