LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities have identified a suspect who was shot and killed by a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper after carjacking a vehicle.
The Clark County coroner’s office says 28-year-old Javier Munoz, of Glendale, Arizona, died from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
NHP officials say the incident began when he carjacked a woman Wednesday in a convenience store parking lot near downtown Las Vegas.
Troopers gave chase after spotting the car driving erratically on U.S. 95.
The pursuit ended in Henderson when the car crashed.
Investigators say the suspect ran into a Cadillac car dealership and pulled an elderly driver out of his car.
Authorities say trooper David Dudley got into a struggle with him and shot Munoz.
The NHP did not say what prompted the shooting.
Dudley is a 17-year veteran.
