BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say an office manager convicted of embezzling money from her employer some 256 times over seven years has been sentenced to one year in prison for wire fraud.
U.S. Middle District Attorney Walt Green said in a news release Thursday 57-year-old Lorrie Rogerson, of Baton Rouge, defrauded the Pediatric Surgery Group of Louisiana, a group of physicians that specializes in surgery on children, of nearly half a million dollars.
Green says Rogerson will have to pay more than $850,000 in restitution.
Officials said Rogerson used her access of the company’s bank account information to embezzle the funds. In one instance, she used internet services to divert funds from the surgery group to pay her personal credit card bills.
