JASPER, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a 9-year-old passenger on a motorcycle died in a hit-and-run accident in Walker County.
Alabama State Trooper Johnathan Appling tells al.com (https://bit.ly/2eskTBe) the crash happened about 2 p.m. Thursday on Highway 69 near Jasper.
Appling says the young Jasper boy was a passenger on a motorcycle involved in a collision with the vehicle. The boy was pronounced dead on the scene.
The motorcycle driver, 23-year-old Jason Key, was taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. His condition is unknown.
Appling says the vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene, and an active search is underway. No description of the vehicle was available.
