JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A federal judge has blocked a second attempt by The Clarion-Ledger (https://on.thec-l.com/2eYzfMz ) to obtain a report that evaluates children’s mental health services and housing for people with mental disabilities in Mississippi.
The $300,000 taxpayer-funded report was commissioned by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health.
Last year, the department refused The Clarion-Ledger’s request to release the results. The department also obtained a federal court order to keep the report confidential.
The newspaper filed a motion seeking to have the protective order lifted in 2015, but a federal judge denied the request.
On Wednesday, Magistrate Judge Mike Parker refused to release the report.
An attorney for the newspaper says Parker’s ruling will be appealed to U.S. District Judge Henry Wingate.
