BEND, Ore. (AP) - A former Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office employee has been sentenced to probation and community service for stealing more than $56,000 in federal benefits.
The Bulletin reports (https://is.gd/eheSyX ) that Bruce Endicott was sentenced Tuesday after previously pleading guilty to theft of government funds in U.S. District Court.
Endicott has been ordered to serve three years of probation, 250 hours of community service and to pay full restitutition.
According to court documents, Endicott began receiving disability benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in 2005. In 2012, he filed a claim for unemployment benefits. In 2013, he began working for the Deschutes County DA, but he failed to notify the VA. He is also accused of working under a different social security number in order to obtain benefits.
