45 percent of Republicans might not go along with election outcome: Poll

Donald Trump is not the only one hedging on accepting the outcome of the 2016 election.

A NBC/Survey Monkey poll released Friday found that 45 percent of likely Republican voters said they might not accept the results, while 53 percent of the GOP said they would.

Overall, 40 percent of the respondents said they would definitely accept the results, and 28 percent said they probably would.

Another 18 percent said it was unlikely and 13 percent said definitely not.

In the debate Wednesday, Mr. Trump declined to say whether he would honor the election results if he loses, sparking political outrage from Mrs. Clinton’s supporters, and some concerns within the GOP.

The next day, the New York Republican clarified that he would abide by the results if he wins, or if he is convinced that there was no monkey business that led to a loss.

Mr. Trump has long held that the election is “rigged” against him and said that it has been and will be rife with voter fraud.

The NBC/ SurveyMonkey poll also showed that 46 percent of likely voters thought Democrat Hillary Clinton won the third and final debate, compared to 37 percent who said Mr. Trump won.
