ATLANTA (AP) - A 13-year-old boy has had one of his legs amputated after his family’s attorney says a behavioral specialist body-slammed the boy multiple times last month at an alternative school for children with disciplinary issues.
Attorney Renee Tucker confirmed to the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer (https://bit.ly/2eTKF3U ) on Wednesday that Montravious Thomas’ right leg was amputated below his knee earlier this week at an Atlanta hospital.
The student has been hospitalized since Sept. 12, when Columbus police say behavioral specialist Bryant Mosley restrained the boy at Edgewood Student Services Center because of behavioral issues.
Edgewood contains the AIM program, an alternative school for students in grades 3-12 who have violated the district’s conduct code and temporarily have been removed from their assigned school. No charges have been filed against Mosley.
