NEW YORK (AP) - Officials say four firefighters were injured battling an early morning blaze at an apartment building in Upper Manhattan.

The fire department says the injuries were not life-threatening.

The fire erupted around 1:15 a.m. Thursday on the top floor of the six-story building in Hamilton Heights. It was brought under control by 2:30 a.m.



WABC-TV says five families were displaced and were getting assistance from the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
