ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - A muddy homecoming tradition is continuing at the University of Michigan following a flap last year over the event.
The Ann Arbor News reports (https://bit.ly/2ex2gvp ) Mudbowl takes place on Saturday in Ann Arbor and is now organized by a new nonprofit student group called the Michigan Mudbowl Club.
Water dumped on the ground makes for muddy play at the charity touch football game. Twelve teams are participating in a play-in tournament this week.
Formerly called the Mud Bowl, the university’s Interfraternity Council barred Greek organizations from participating last year but it still drew crowds. For years, the school’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity chapter organized the event but the chapter was suspended last year.
