DRESDEN, Maine (AP) - A large fire has heavily damaged a Dresden center that provides housing for those with substance abuse and physical and mental illness.

The early Sunday morning fire at the Freedom Center led to the temporary closure of Gardiner Road. No injuries have been reported.

WMTW-TV reported (https://bit.ly/2d6lTsN ) that the approximately 13 people inside the shelter were able to escape. Crews helped tear down damaged sections of the building.



The State Fire Marshal is investigating what caused the fire.
