BAYONNE, N.J. (AP) - A fast-moving fire severely damaged two multifamily homes in Bayonne and left two firefighters injured.
The fire on Andrew Street was reported around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Authorities say 13 people overall were displaced by the blaze. It did not appear that any residents were hurt, but two firefighters were treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries that authorities said were minor.
Firefighters battled the blaze for about two hours before it was brought under control. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Firefighters rescued three cats, three ferrets and a bird from the blaze. But seven cats died.
