MACON, Ga. (AP) - A 68-year-old woman has died in a house fire in Macon.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones tells news outlets that Ruby Davis was found dead early Monday.

Jones says Davis’ 70-year-old brother Robert Dudley had tried to rescue her, but there was too much fire and smoke. Dudley was treated for smoke inhalation and cuts he sustained while escaping out a window.

Officials say another woman escaped the blaze uninjured.

Macon-Bibb County Fire Lt. Ben Gleaton says the fire appears to have been an accident, but the exact cause still is under investigation.
