Officials charged with running New Jersey’s elections say they have seen no evidence of voter fraud and are not concerned the system is rigged.
Tuesday’s deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 8 presidential election comes as Republican Donald Trump continues making unsubstantiated claims that balloting in the U.S. is rigged.
Ten of New Jersey’s 21 county elections officials responded to The Associated Press and said they have seen no evidence of fraud.
Republican Gov. Chris Christie in August said the public trusts the system.

Eight of New Jersey’s 21 county elections officials responded to The Associated Press and said they have seen no evidence of fraud.
Hunterdon County Clerk Mary Melfi says that she is a Republican and has “1,000 percent faith” in the state’s election system.
New Jersey leans Democratic in presidential years and is not considered a battleground state, but Republican Gov. Chris Christie is a top surrogate for Trump.
Christie in August said the public trusts the system.

The deadline to register to vote in this year’s presidential election in New Jersey has arrived.
After Tuesday, voters will not be able to register to cast a ballot in the Nov. 8 contest that pits Democrat Hillary Clinton against Republican Donald Trump.
Residents will also be casting votes for House seats and deciding ballot questions on casino expansion and requiring gas tax revenues be spent only on transportation.
New Jersey leans Democratic in presidential years and is not considered a battleground state, but Republican Gov. Chris Christie is a top surrogate for Trump.
Trump says the election could be rigged and encourages supporters to watch for fraud. Christie in August said the public trusts the system.
The registration deadline is set by law at 21 days before Election Day.
