DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The father of former Iowa Lt. Gov. Patty Judge, who is a candidate for the U.S. Senate in this year’s general election, has died.

Judge’s campaign released a statement saying her father, Lester Poole, died Tuesday in Albia.

The cause of death wasn’t immediately available. The family is finalizing funeral arrangements.

Poole was a World War II veteran. He was 94.

The campaign statement says Judge, a Democrat, still plans to attend Wednesday night’s scheduled debate with Republican incumbent U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley in Sioux City.
